The 1st All-Africa Insurance & Financial Services Annual Summit 2009 was a unique gathering of international insurance, reinsurance and risk management practitioners with the common aim of enhancing the growth and development of the African Insurance Market. Held from 8 – 9 June 2009 in Kigali, the Summit gathered an authoritative panel of experts from Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America to discuss the challenges and issues of critical importance to the market.
Featuring current strategic issues ranging from pension funds, reinsurance, bancassurance, life insurance, health insurance, as well as micro insurance and Islamic insurance (Takaful) the two-day Summit provided a unique platform for close interaction with the Government authorities, international and regional insurance & central banks experts.
Attended by 100 participants, the Summit also attracted organizations such as the African Development Bank and Sonarwa as sponsors.
The 1st AAIFS Summit 2009 was produced with the support of Rwanda Development Board (RDB). The highlight of the event was the participation of the 3 Government Officials: Hon. Mr. James Musoni, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda; Mr. Kanimba Francois, Governor of National Bank of Rwanda and Mr. Henry Gaperi, CEO of Social Security Fund of Rwanda.
